The abundance of walleye in Oneida Lake is amazing. While they may not be as big as Lake O eyes, the numbers we catch more than make up for their smaller size. A typical day would be your 3 fish limit of eyes, many more released, throw in some jumbo perch, white bass, along with a few smallies, and you have the makings of an action packed fun, easy trip on the water.

Our season begins in late September when giant King Salmon begin to migrate up the Salmon River. HIGH ADVENTURE SPORTFISHING targets trophy Kings with fly rods and bright colored flies. Once we have sufficient water flow, we put our driftboats into service and use high action plugs to take these aggressive and territorial fish. Salmon will strike plugs, and we receive a great deal of satisfaction from making believers out of people who thought that Salmon wouldn’t bite.

By mid-October, large numbers of egg gobbling Steelhead start entering the rivers. Mixed catches of Salmon and Trout provide great action into late November. October and November is also time to match your skills against a trophy Brown Trout. We only have a limited number of days to target these monsters, so you must book early to get a prime date.

Winter River Fishing

During the winter months, Steelhead continue to come into all the tributaries of the lake. The crowds disappear with the colder temperatures of winter, but the fishing stays hot. A winter float trip aboard our heated driftboat is a great way to learn the river and experience its beauty.

Spring River Fishing

By late March the snow is melting and Steelhead are spawning. As these fish drop back to the lake, they feed ferociously to regain strength and body weight. Action in April and early May can be spectacular. These fish will take all offerings; plugs, flies and live bait are all tempting.

Captain Troy Creasy is a full-time dedicated professional, pursuing trout and salmon for 30 years, with over 25 years guiding experience. He is on the water year round and will provide you with a complete charter service. HIGH ADVENTURE SPORTFISHING is proud to use only the best equipment available. Captain Troy is a member of the Luhr Jensen, Mustad, Daiwa, Pro-Troll, Atomik, Maxima, Dreamweaver, Pautzke Baits & Troutbeads Pro Staff. Captain Troy has been very active in the Fish community since 1987.

He has served as president of the Oswego County River Guides Association. He is a member of the NYS Fisheries Congress, Lake Ontario Sportfishing Promotion Council, Eastern Lake Ontario Salmon and Trout Association and the New York State Writers Association. He is also the editor of Lake Ontario Outdoors magazine, a quarterly publication promoting outdoor sports in the Lake Ontario region.

Along with competing in major tournaments & derbies, Captain Troy also guided one of his clients to the state record Chinook Salmon in 1991, Captain Troy is always on the cutting edge of what makes this great fishery tick.
