A steep hike, a full backpack, and a solid cardiovascular workout lead to unmatched vistas, long rappels, and an astounding day of desert adventure. We designed this trip especially for adventure enthusiasts who are looking to push physical limits in an incredibly dramatic learning environment. Athletic, inspired groups find this day a highly rewarding way to squeeze the most out of 24 hours.

Departing at 7 a.m., you will head out for an extra-full day of canyon adventuring. After a big hike, you will gear up for a long descent of a classic desert slot canyon. High Adventure Days can involve 8 - 12 rappels up to 200-feet, as well as rope ascents, guided rappels, tyrolean traverses, and pothole escapes. You will descend expedition-style, moving efficiently and acting decisively to get the most out of our time in the canyon. Looking back at the day, some students have difficulty believing it all happened in only one day!

High Adventure Days incorporate our introductory canyoneering curriculum within a highly active, non-stop itinerary. You get a great deal of practice with the following skills:

  • Rappelling and belaying
  • Down-climbing, stemming, and spotting
  • Footwork and balance management
  • Floating disconnects
  • Swimming with drysuits and heavy packs
  • Rope organization and management
  • "Leave No Trace" practices

  • Prerequisites:

  • Age 16 or older recommended, or otherwise accompanied by a guardian
  • No experience necessary, but all party members must be comfortable with heights
  • All party members must be reasonably fit and able to hike a 4-mile, 2500-foot ascent route

  • We provide all the necessary technical gear and transportation for your group, but recommend: - 2 quarts of water/person & lunch/snacks for the day

  • Sunscreen - T-shirt & swim shorts (June - Aug)
  • Warm clothes/fleece (Sept - May)
  • Hat, gloves & rain gear (Sept - May)
  • Camera

  • All trips leave from Zion Adventure Company at 36 Lion Blvd., across from the Quality Inn.

Early reservations advised - dates tend to book 30 to 45 days out. Trips take place 7 days a week, year-round. Departing at 7 am, the trip finishes at between 4pm and 6pm.

We came to Zion on Valentine's Day, 1996, with no intentions. But Zion's vertical sandstone world, with miles of serpentine slot canyons and immense quietude inspired us to build our organization and change the way people visit Zion National Park. We broke ground as the first outfitter and educational guide service of Zion Canyon, and established the base for canyoneering, rock climbing, and hiking the Zion Narrows.

Today we have an incredibly dedicated staff, here to help you not only experience amazing places, but to also help you be amazing.
