Monterey Bay Flight-seeing Tour

If you’ve ever sat on a bench by the ocean, enjoying the salty air, watching the birds wheeling above and wishing you could join them, then this is the Zeppelin experience for you, our Monterey Bay Coastal Tours!

Lifting off from the Marina Airport, you’ll head out over the neatly manicured streets of Monterey and past Old Fisherman’s Wharf to get a seabirds eye view of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the historic Cannery Row. Watch the waves crashing on the rocks, and spot the kelp forests and perhaps even a whale or two! Below you, the sun reflecting off the wings of the flocks of seabirds creates patterns that appear and disappear like ghosts over the water. Sometimes you’ll even catch a glimpse of the rainbow colored glory around the shadow of the Zeppelin caused by the sun and the sea-spray.

Savor the stately elegance of Carmel by the Sea and the vistas over the famous Pebble Beach Golf Course towards picturesque Point Lobos. The combination of soft white sandy coves with names like Whalers Cove, Bluefish Cove and Cypress Cove evoke memories of times past with weather-beaten fishing boats, tales of sea monsters and perhaps even pirates! Jagged rocks like those at Granite Point are spectacular from the air and even more amazing if there are fingers of fog lingering out on the Pacific Ocean.

Airship Ventures brought a Zeppelin NT airship to California for daily sight seeing flights, advertising operations, corporate and event occasions and scientific missions. We started operations from Moffett Field, North Oakland, Monterey and Long Beach airports in November 2008.

“Eureka” means “I’ve found it” and from the reactions of our guests, that would seem to be the sentiment that captures the unique experience of flying on the Zeppelin “Eureka”. Others have described it as a ‘personal cloud’ or ‘knowing what birds feel like’.

For some, its much quieter than they were expecting, a smoother ride, more comfortable. For everyone, it’s over far too quickly!

Cruising at around 1300 feet, you are high enough to be non intrusive, but low enough to see amazing details. Your speed is around 35mph, which is a stately and serene speed to view the world at. Take off and landing are very rapid and you are only in your seat for the minute or so it takes us to reach cruising altitude.

Surrounded by huge windows, two of which open, and with the comforts of leather seating and an onboard restroom, this is a real skybox!
