This artisan workshop offers you a window to the noble art of shoemaking and bootmaking. This practical, enlivening, and creatively intense workshop is designed exclusively for the serious seeker of boot art.
This four day course is for people who already understand and have mastered the basics of shoe making and would like to try their hand at creating insprational and original design boots.
Design: creating an original design
Selecting leather, suede and skin
Leather option for those interested in exotic leathers we can meet the following afternoon before the second class to purchase skins
Last alterations: preparing the last
Meaurement of foot
Taping last
Transferring design to last Pattern Making
Preparing sole
Sock lining
Clicking: preparation and construction of shoe upper
Closing
Lasting: moulding and construction of shoes
Heel design
Finishing
Itinerary for the four day course:
Day one: Thurs 6pm-9pm
Day two: Fri 6pm – 9pm
Day three: Sat 10am – 5pm
Day four: Sun 10am – 5pm
Places are limited to four pupils per class
All tools and basic materials are provided
Required materials not included: Last, Heal. Shank and leathers (information on where to get these materials will be provided)
Qualifications
Hailing from the Bronx, Llorraine Neithardt has long been known in show-business and the arts as an inspiring mentor and maker of inspirational bespoke shoes. Student of philosophy and sculpture, she combines this knowledge with her talent for fashion to create pairs of astonishing and intricately decorated shoes for private collectors. Her designs were recently featured in the movie ‘P.S. I love you’ starring Hilary Swank.
