Expressive acrylic painting: stretching toward abstraction

Jacqui’s workshops offer a wonderful opportunity to learn to paint more expressively and personally. Discover techniques that lend themselves to increasing the tendency to experiment, loosen up, and be more expressive. Learn how to use collaging, underpainting, and layering techniques as you bring more life to your paintings and more enjoyment to your painting process. The workshops are open to participants with all levels of experience.

This expressive acrylic painting workshop focuses on learning how to use the process of abstraction to make your paintings more dynamic and personal.

You’ll learn about:

• brief art history with a focus on abstraction

• representational and non-representational art

• symbolism

• how to abstract form (information and exercises)

Plus there will be plenty of time to paint and to receive personal feedback from the instructor.

The workshop will be held at : Rainier Valley Cultural Center, 3515 S Alaska Street, Seattle WA 98118, (southwest corner of Rainier Avenue S & S Alaska Street)

Jacqui Beck is an artist and art educator living in Seattle, Washington. She is an enthusiastic, creative, and supportive instructor, and she excels in helping each student find a personal style of expression. Jacqui’s work is collected and exhibited in the United States, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand. She has studied at Gage Academy of Art and with many nationally known artists.
