Westgate holiday cottage, Isle of Wight
Enjoy a relaxing break at this 17th century stone built self-catering holiday cottage in the picturesque village of St Lawrence
Originally the local coach house, stables and accommodation for visitors touring the island, the cottage has been converted into a four bedroom house with kitchen, bathrooms, living and dining room. There are still remnants of days gone by, with lashing points for the horses and cobbled pathways outside. There is a secure, gated walled cottage garden in the courtyard outside, plus ample parking for two cars.
St Lawrence village has a post office and store and the picturesque and popular Steephill Cove beach, Ventnor cricket field and splendid botanical gardens are also very close by. A short drive is Ventnor with its crescent shaped beach, esplanade and variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Nearby places of interest include the Isle of Wight Coastal Visitors Centre, St. Boniface Church, Isle of Wight Glass at St Lawrence, the Rew Down Local Nature Reserve and St Boniface Down, which is the highest point on the Isle of Wight. The Wight Light Gallery in the High Street has a stunning collection of Island images on sale.
The Isle of Wight coastal path is a 65 mile (105km) long trail around the island, which follows the coastline as closely as possible. Entertainment, sport and leisure are varied and include Cricket grounds, golf courses, Pitch & Putt courses, tennis courts and a variety of children’s playgrounds.
