Milliners Cottage nestles in the heart of the picturesque village of Stoke Abbott, one of west Dorset’s hidden treasures. Adjoining another property, the cosy cottage accommodates three in comfort, and has a garden adjoining the famous Stoke Abbott spring, reputed to give long life. The village lies on the edge of the Marshwood Vale, and offers fantastic walks right on the doorstep.

Set along a tiny road, Milliners Cottage is just 2 miles from the market town of Beaminster, 6 miles from the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and 10 miles from Lyme Regis.

If you love food, then a stay at the cottage offers a huge range of great culinary options. You can stock up the fridge and larder with fresh produce from local farm shops, or enjoy lunch or dinner at The Wild Garlic restaurant (only 2 miles away in Beaminster) recently opened by Masterchef 2009 winner Mat Follas. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Canteen and Mark Hix’s Oyster and Fish House are also nearby. Even closer to home, The New Inn, the village’s pub, is just a 30 second stroll away and guests staying at the cottage always receive a warm welcome from the owners.

If you enjoy being out and about there is plenty to do in the area: explore the lovely seaside town of Lyme Regis; take a mackerel fishing trip from West Bay; hunt for antiques at the Saturday market in Bridport; visit Mapperton Gardens and an Elizabethan gem that has been voted The Nation’s Finest Manor House; explore the famous Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens; or simply curl up on the sofa with a good book and enjoy the cottage’s log burning stove.
