‘Retreats for you' is quite simply wonderful, and I have been telling everyone who will listen all about it! Deborah and Bob have thought carefully about all the important elements – comfortable surroundings, few decisions, great food and a plentiful supply of wine, tea, cake and chocolate, plus many small inspired additions. It's like being mothered by a really cool mum, but without any of the guilt that sometime accompany being indulged.
We were able to natter, snooze, bathe, read and watch DVDs. We also spent time walking in the fabulous Devon countryside, in the knowledge that there would be a blazing fire, a squidgy sofa and delicious food to return to. The treatment was a real bonus too. Significantly, you are not just an anonymous hotel or spa room number. Deborah and Bob treat you as a welcome friend in their home, but at a comfortable distance, so you neither feel obliged to them or that you're imposing on their lives.
It’s now two weeks since I left Sheepwash and I still have a warm glow of absolute loveliness.
I look forward to booking our next weekend!’

Retreats for You is a hugely exciting development. It all began when the departure of our children from the nest left my partner and I wondering how best to use our rambling thatched house. Set in the village of Sheepwash, a tiny village in rural North Devon, it had been a wonderful family home, and now seemed strangely redundant. A clever friend had the answer. ‘Writers need space’, she said. ‘The peace of the village and the beauty of the countryside makes this the perfect place to write – and as a working writer, you can offer support.’
And so Retreats for You was born. Whether you are a writer in need of a comfortable space to write with no interruptions, full board - to avoid the need to think about meals, and the opportunity to discuss work in progress or a mother wanting some 'me-time' and a spot of relaxtion and pampering. We quickly realised that the concept of a complete break from the pressures of daily life is one that appeals across the board. Accordingly, Retreats for You has gradually blossomed into a retreat for anyone who needs some time out, and some tlc. But whether a guest wants to write, read, paint, walk, or simply reflect, the ethos remains the same. A warm welcome into our home, a calm, supportive and nurturing environment, plenty of good homecooked food, and the choice of being sociable or solitary.
