The world's first course covering the applications of molecular mixology for practical use in a bar environment. This course covers the techniques used in cutting edge luxury cocktails and the practical applications of science in the bar. We kick things off with an introduction to the science of taste and flavour and explore the sensory experience of drinking.

Starting with the basics we teach homemade sodas and foams and teach students how to make their own bitters from scratch, no distillery needed!!!

Taking inspiration from some of the worlds top chefs including Pierre Gagnaire, Heston Blumenthal and Ferran Adria, you will learn the cutting edge techniques to make flavoured caviar and ravioli, light and heavy foams and airs, jellies and explore some forgotten classic drinks categories, modern twists and competition winning recipes.

Starting at 10.30am and finishing at 6.30pm, the course costs £249 per person.

Shaker was first conceived by Managing Director Adam Freeth, as part of his BA and MSc in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. With the dream to provide a realistic and affordable bartender training programme, the idea of the “International Bartender Course” (IBC) quickly became a popular reality. In 2005 a joint venture with Nick Cursi saw Shaker open BarSchools in Cape town, and soon after Johannesburg. With bar schools in the UK and South Africa, Shaker have developed into one of the leading authorities on training and bartending, with a training team offering over fifty years’ industry experience. Anil Sabharwal, who co-wrote the IBC, is a competition bartender based in Shaker’s Cape Town school who has travelled all over the world. His most recent win saw him compete in the Skyy global flair challenge and win the “King of Africa” bartending competition and so confirming his status as one of the best flair bartenders in the world.
