Earth ovens workshop at Westmill Farm

Experience a fun and different day out making an earth oven. Your knowledgeable and skilful tutor Chris Park will guide and assist you through this hands-on session, which will run from 10am to 4pm. The session is designed to teach you various techniques of making, using and maintaining an earth oven for your home, garden or as a community resource.

Fresh organic lunch will be provided with an opportunity to help cook a cauldron of veggie soup on an open fire. Please bring a bottle of water or something to drink. Wear wellies/ waterproofs if wet.

Acorn Education is dedicated to integrating nature and education, and providing experiential learning for all of the senses. It seeks to improve our connections to the natural environment and gain a greater awareness, a sense of place, a sense of history, roots and culture, arts, crafts, skills and knowledge.

Acorn Education is an experiential project exploring ancient technology, experimental technology, nature awareness, contemporary art and the steadily growing ecology. Our aim is to create a safe and nurturing environment for all to explore nature and express themselves.

Chris Park, founder of Acorn Education, works extensively with schools and artistic projects all over the UK and has worked with the BBC for a seven week project called Surviving the Iron Age. He is a descendant of Mungo Park, the Scottish explorer, who navigated the African river Niger exactly 200 years ago.
