Nature awareness at Westmill Farm

Join Chris Park, your experienced and knowledgeable guide at Westmill Farm, and cultivate your perception of the natural world. On this unique and informative day you will improve your nature awareness with tracking and stalking and learn how to read more from the book of nature. Other topics that will be covered are weather wisdom, nature observation, interpreting signs and more. You will also learn the identification and uses of trees, plants, minerals and animals, combined with a sprinkle of folklore.

Fresh organic lunch will be provided with an opportunity to help cook a cauldron of veggie soup on an open fire. Please bring a bottle of water or something to drink. Wear wellies/ waterproofs if wet.

The session starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.

Acorn Education is dedicated to integrating nature and education, and providing experiential learning for all of the senses. It seeks to improve our connections to the natural environment and gain a greater awareness, a sense of place, a sense of history, roots and culture, arts, crafts, skills and knowledge.

Acorn Education is an experiential project exploring ancient technology, experimental technology, nature awareness, contemporary art and the steadily growing ecology. Our aim is to create a safe and nurturing environment for all to explore nature and express themselves.

Chris Park, founder of Acorn Education, works extensively with schools and artistic projects all over the UK and has worked with the BBC for a seven week project called Surviving the Iron Age. He is a descendant of Mungo Park, the Scottish explorer, who navigated the African river Niger exactly 200 years ago.
