Wild mushroom safaris mean the first bookings on Ooh.com!

We’re excited because the number of people and companies listing on our site is growing daily. And as we quietly continue to test and put the beta site through its paces ahead of any launch, we’ve had news in of our first bookings!

Roseanne Van Ee, an award-winning naturalist working in the Vernon area in British Columbia, is running a series of Wild Mushroom Safaris during October, and it’s these safaris which have attracted the first bookings on Ooh! We’re not surprised as Roseanne’s one day safaris sound fantastic.

Wild mushrooms bloom like crazy in the fall and this safari takes place on the doorstep of the mushroom capital of the world, the Columbia Mountain range, where the greatest diversity of mushrooms is found. Costing just over $50 per person, the full day safari will take you on a fun and informative excursion through the woods to view all types of mushrooms, from spiny, white Coral Fungus to huge, bright orange Lobsters. Roseanne tells us that photographers, artists, gardeners, cooks, naturalists, hikers, mycophiles and anyone with a sense of curiosity will love these tours. If you’re in the area, why not check the safaris out - and if you do, we’d love to hear how you get on.

I live in Australia. Are there any mycologists down here, or ANYbody who teaches classes or does field trips? Please, I would really like to know. Even our books are woeful. Thaniks.

Hi Ann. We’ve had a scout around on twitter for you to try and find a mycologist in Aus, but with no luck. We’ll keep trying and let you know how we get on.
    Best,
