We salute www.tourkiev.com who run tours to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. The Chernobyl incident is considered to be the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history and the only level 7 instance on the International Nuclear Event Scale. Therefore, it might seem surprising that you are able to visit the site, yet Tourkiev make it possible. Their tour notes include fantastic pieces of advice like “there is a security personnel hiding in the bush so we strongly recommend don’t come close to the fence”. We’re in the process of arranging an interview with them, but we thought we’d show you a few pictures of the site to get you in the mood.














I know quite a few people who have taken the Chernobyl tour with Solo East and were very pleased with their experiences.
I personally visited the Chernobyl area for two days in June 2006 with a friend who is a former resident of Pripyat. We toured the Chernobyl Plant (including the Reactor 4 control room), several of the abandoned villages, and Pripyat. I have posted a photo journal of my trip at:
