Happy Cabernet Day!

You could be forgiven for not having heard of it, but today, September 2, is #Cabernet Day on a number of different sites and social networks.  It’s reported that more than 50 wineries, 600 wine drinkers and 100 restaurants around the world will gather for what is hoped to be the largest online wine tasting held to date.

Anyone can use the #Cabernet hashtag in search engines and social networks. The event itself runs for a full 24 hours, starting in Australia and moving across the timezones with many wineries offering deals and events for the special occassion.  If you happen to be in NY, Wine Library and Cork’d are putting on a special tasting at the Roger Smith Hotel in Manhattan.  For more details, visit the Cabernet Day Eventbrite site.

Beach Blanket Babylon party at Notting Hill Carnival

Over the weekend, Ooh.com was lucky enough to swing an invite to the Gallo Rose carnival party at the opulent, Rococo-styled Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill.

Gallo Rose had laid on a last attempt to reclaim the ebbing British summer with an Ibiza-style bar and dance area featuring real sand and bartop dancers! The music was top notch, with a DJ line-up including Dan Williams and Jade Jagger, quickly hurling the party into full carnival spirit. We thought we’d share our photo highlights from the event!

Simple guide to the London Barclays cycle hire scheme

- New blue public hire bicycles all over the place (yay)

Review: A one-on-one cooking class with The Roving Chef in London

We’ve been on the look-out for bloggers to review some of the fantastic classes that people have listed on Ooh.  Cara, from top food blog Gourmet Chick signed up to try a private cooking class with Hayley Edwards, also known as The Roving Chef. We leave it to Cara to tell us how it went:

I have an addiction. Well several actually, red wine, shoes, chocolate, Twitter, cheese, trashy magazines, Master Chef (I know) and cooking classes. Yes, I absolutely love going to cooking classes and by this stage have managed to attend a whole host of different classes in London not to mention the ones I fit in while on holidays in different countries. Poor MTV boyfriend even got dragged along to one while on our honeymoon in Sri Lanka. So let’s just say I jumped at the chance when Ooh.com invited me to try out a class with The Roving Chef in London.
